Ho Tram Open 2015 – the Vietnam Golf’s biggest event of the year successfully finished with the triumph of World No.12 Garcia. The event left very good impressions on participating golfers, golf professionals, journalists and spectators. What we learned from the Ho Tram Open 2015?
1. The grand opening ceremony and great performance arts.
Entertainment-meets-golf with the participation of Brian Mcfadden- formerly of Westlife. Each evening the resort hosted a Poolside Groove party with great food, champagne, wine, whisky and musical performances.
The golf talk show of 5 golfers: Robert Rock, Darren Clarke, Sergio Garcia, Geoff Ogilvy, Thomas Bjorn about their professional golf carrers with the support of Tang Thi Nhung – first professional female golfer of Vietnam has left much impression in the hearts of the participants.
2. Great spectators
The organizing board prepared thousands of ticket and free transports for spectators to bring the Ho Tram Open closely to golf lovers. During 4 days of competition, despite the strong wind and hot day, there were always thousands of spectators at the The Bluffs Ho Tram course to applaud the great performances of the world’s leading golfers.
3. Two hole-in-on at hole No.7
Such a coincidence, 2 golfers Taewoo Kim (Korean) and Arnond Vongvanij (Thai) alternately had a HIO shot at the Par 3 Hole #7 which has the length of 171 yards on the first and second day of the competition.
4. The strong wind – The nightmare for attending golfers.
A strong wind can totally ruin your swings, due to the coastal location and lack of trees, The Bluffs Ho Tram is frequently windy. In the afternoon of 2nd day, the wind reached up to 25mph and moved golf balls on the greens, forced the organizing board to stop the game and 58 golfers had to return to the course to finish their remaining holes.
5. The impressive 1st day of Tran Le Duy Nhat
While most of Vietnamese golfers didn’t have good results on the first day of the Ho Tram Open, the Vietnamese No.1 golfer – Michael Tran was on top of the best golfers with the score 5-under par alongside the likes world number 12 Sergio Garcia. In the other hand, the newly winner of Vietnam Golf Championship 2015 Truong Chi Quan finished his first round with the score 8-over par 79. Unfortunately, Tran couldn’t maintain his good form on next following days, he finished the championship with the total score of 291.
6. The Champion
Garcia didn’t have best results on the first two days, but he managed to finish 4 rounds tied at 14-under par with three other players: Lin Wen-tang, Thaworn Wiratchant and Himmat Rai to extend the final day to play off match. In the first extra hole on 18, Garcia made a birdie by a putt from 35 feet which was matched by Rai, The Spanish golf star then claimed a popular victory with a par after Rai dropped a bogey in the second extra hole.
