Known for awards at home and abroad since the age of 13, Tran Le Duy Nhat officially become the first Vietnamese professional athlete at professional golf tournament in area from 12/2008, and was ranked in the top 50 Asian Tour.

June 2001, while less than 12 years old, Duy Nhat got along with golf and from that day he came to driving range every day. Understood son’s special talent, his father decided to invest for him: hired coach Huynh Van Do – the best golf coach in Vietnam to be the first coach for Duy Nhat.

Rubbed with the golf environment from the beginning, Duy Nhat almost was destined to conquer the prizes. In 2003, the young boy shocked the golf world when won the Vietnamese Johnnie Walker Championship and participated in the Pro-Am, a part of the professional world tournament Johnnie Walker, held in Perth, Australia (2003).

In the same year, the family decided to send him to New Zealand to learn about culture and to develop skill of playing golf. Being alone in a foreign country, thanks to his fluency in English, plus the confidence, self-discipline and bravery, Duy Nhat has quickly caught the eye of the professional golf coach. He joined Akarana Club, where he had chance to compete with the famous golfers, such as, Ernie Els, Sergio Garcia, Retief Goosen, Nick Faldo and Justin Rose. In that year, Duy Nhat won the Auckland Maungakiekie U-15, the Inter-College Auckland and the New Zealand.

Then his family sent him to the US to start the professional golf career as the US is the world’s best place for learning golf. He made a dream start as becoming the first Vietnamese to beat 140 professional opponents in the qualifying round at Red Hawk, California, winning a berth in the professional tournament in California in 2007.

The next 7 years was the hardest time of Nhat as he didn’t win any professional golf tournaments. He improved his golf game quickly, participated in many golf tournaments but couldn’t enjoy that winning feeling again. But he didn’t give up and tried to improve day by day, every failure as a learning experience. And his great effort has paid off.

In August 29th Golfer Tran Le Duy Nhat beat Lam Chih Bing (Singapore) on 1st playoff hole to win the Damai Indah Ciputra Golf Tournament Golfpreneur BSD Course (Indonesia) with -18. This is the greatest record of a Vietnam golfer at an international professional tournament.

With this win, the 25-year-old golfer Tran became the first Vietnamese golfer to win on the ADT following his victory at the Ciputra Golfpreneur Tournament, which marked his second professional win since joining the play-for-pay ranks in 2008.
