Tips To Beat The Heat On The GolfCourse

A lot of players and golf lovers know that it´s hard to beat a good day at the golf course but when the summer temperatures rise it gets harder to stay fine/ comfortable and enjoy what you came for. Vietnam, with its warm tropical climate and high humidity all year round, especially during summer, the heat on the golf course can be almost unbearable, it makes playing golf is harder than usual. If you´re not prepared you could soon be wishing that you´d stayed home, thinking that you still have too many of holes left in the round. Here are a few simple tips to help better your golfing experience and enjoy a nice relaxing round of golf even if is in high temperatures in the middle of summer.

CHOOSE A CORRECT TIME TO PLAY

The time you tee off is very important. The best time to play golf in summer days is early morning, nothing beats early morning golf. The positives of morning tee times are obvious: lower temperatures and humidity, less crowds, and improved course conditions. Normally, golfing 18 holes averages around four hours. If you are lucky you will finish your round before the sun starts to set.

HYDRATION

The heat will suck the moisture right out of you. If you don´t hydrate you body you will feel quickly and extremely tired and just want to stop your game immediately. Bring plenty of water especially sport drinks, electrolyte with you to stay hydrated, so you can keep your body cool.

USE A VISOR

A visor is way cooler to wear than a hat. Most of your body heat escapes through your head. A hat can protect your head from direct sunlight and shade your face but it can keep all of that heat trying to escape your head. In addition, a visor fits better if you have a lot of hair.

WEAR A SUITABLE CLOTHING

If you choose to wear a black polo, pants and shoes on the course this summer, it will certainly hurt and hot. Wear white shoes and a white shirt. Some golf polos use special moisture wicking fabric that will help keep you cool and dry at the same time. Bring some towels, just soak it in water, place it on your neck and let it do the rest.

DO NOT WALK

Walking during golf is good for your health, and good for the golf course compared to riding in a cart. But do you think you can walk a round of golf (6-7 km) on a summer day with high temperatures, in that circumstance, riding a cart will be a better choice.

USE SUNSCREEN

Try to be sure to wear plenty of sunscreen to protect against harmful UV-rays, they are very dangerous for the skin. Playing golf without sunscreen results in the skin burning pretty quickly, maybe 15 to 20 minutes depending on your skin tone. There’re many kinds of sunscreen designed specifically for all golfers.
